Our Education Director and the entire teaching team are current Brandeis University undergraduates who craft customized lesson plans for our students. They bring their infectious passion for Jewish learning to BJEP each Sunday.
BJEP’s curriculum provides a framework for learning within our classrooms and during community-wide events. Employing an age-appropriate thematic focus with clear learning objectives and guiding questions, our program focuses on:
- Jewish Holidays
- Hebrew & Prayer
- Torah
- Tikkun Olam (repairing the world/social action)
- Jewish Values
- Jewish History
We consider community to be the implicit curriculum underlying and supporting all classroom learning.
Additional Programming
B'nai Mitzvah Program
BJEP students in 7th grade (and above) are invited to participate in a B'nai Mitzvah cohort program, in tandem with their Sunday learning. The cohort engages in a collective learning experience focused on exploring ethical issues and culminates in a formal B'nai Mitzvah ceremony.
Madrichim Program
Students in grades 8 through 12 have the opportunity to continue their Jewish education while simultaneously giving back to the community as teaching assistants. Madrichim work in classrooms with teachers and also help to plan holiday and elective programming. Their Sundays may include classroom visit rotations, pedagogy training, self-reflection, leadership development, community building, social activities, and programming practice.
